Ranch life’s monthly challenge-June Memories.

Okay, so first, here is a story! 🙂 I’m gonna do several! 🙂 Here:adayinthesaddle.jpg

😀 Yes, as you can tell from the picture, and title, we had our first day of GATHERING CATTLE!!! 😀 It was a LOT of fun, but also pretty hard! 😛 Now you can’t really focus on doing a good job with the cows AND take pictures, so there aren’t very many pictures…but I’ll show you the ones I have! 🙂 😀

Up at the barn. Time to stop taking pictures and CATCH MY HORSE!! 😛 Hehe!!! 😀

I was having fun playing around with close-ups and decided to do one with my shirt! 😀

Saddle horn.

Okay, so a lot of people ask me: “How do you gather cattle? What do you do?” Well, in answer, here is a little summary of what you do!!! 😀

So first you have to get dressed in jeans, and a long sleeved shirt. One that will keep the sun off your arms. THEN you do your hair (usually in a braid so the wind doesn’t blow it away…okay well not-) and go outside. Then catch your horse and brush it. And then put on the saddle, and blankets. Then you tighten the cinch- but not too much, cause you want them to still be comfortable in the trailer- and go get other things, such as a water bottle, spurs, …camera…. :/ 😉 And also make sure you have the bridle somewhere attached to the saddle! 😉 THEN you load your horse in the trailer and drive out to where ever you are gathering cattle! 🙂 And unload your horse and bridle it, and tighten the cinch. Then you ride out into the pasture, or down the road or both. And go into a pasture, find ALL the cows in it, and herd them together, then herd them through the pasture/onto the road…etc! 😉 😀 😀 You want at least one person on the back, pushing the cows (or if you have good dogs, they can do that), and then someone on the sides to keep the cows together, and usually someone in the front to have the cows follow!!! 😀 Then you herd them (eventually) into cattle pens, where they’re counted, and loaded onto cattle trucks, and hauled away to go to feedlots and then be butchered! 🙂 😀

There, did you like my little explanation? 😀 🙂 Hehe!! 😛 😀 Okay! 🙂 So…there! 🙂

Painting Cattle pens.

😀 This wasn’t EXACTLY the definition of fun…but it was too.. 😉 😀 We went out to the cattle pens with our paint and PAINTED THEM ALL!!!! 😀 It took two days! 🙂 😀 😛 We put on a loooong glove, then a short one, then another cotton one, and then dipped our hand in paint, then just rubbed down the fence!!! 😀 We also built the cattle pens, so it was pretty cool to be building them, THEN painting them too!! 🙂 😀 I can’t show the pictures of us painting cause they’re too private, BUT there were some eggs that I HAD to take pictures of! 😉 😛 Hehe!

008.JPG

pretty right? I’m PRETTY sure they’re killdeer eggs, but if you know for sure, please tell me!! 😀

PUPPIES!!!

Soo… we have a lot of puppies, so OBVIOUSLY we had to PLAY WITH THEM!!! Two litters were born in June ALSO!!! :O 😀 🙂 Now THAT IS FUUUUUN!!!! 🙂 😀 Now these ARE some pretty old pictures-BUT still in June! 😉 Here are pictures:

Oh, that’s too bad… But I’ve “heard” that you have a lot of animals, so that probably makes up for it ;D

  4. Oh, your puppies are so cute. I really want to get into cattle more with my mare. You should have seen her at a horse camp. She was rearing all over the place when she saw the roping steers. It would be fun though.

  5. Gathering cattle is my favorite! I sooooo want to do something like that. But we have very few cows, and we never really have to gather them. XD 😉

  6. This post is really making me wish I lived on a farm! XD We have ten acres, but we only have one dog. Our land is all rocky, so we can’t really have a horse. :/ Looks like you had an awesome month! 🙂 Where did you get this challenge?

    Liked by 1 person

    • Aww… yes, it is so much fun!! 😀 🙂 We have I think either 16 or 18 acres! 😉 😛 Well…at least you have a dog!! 😀 🙂 That’s too bad though… :/
I got the challenge from: ranchlifesite.wordpress.com !! She has a thing where each month she has something you can do!! and even if you don’t do the first one, you can do the second! 🙂 😀 😀
Horses really are amazing! 😉 😀 Thanks so much for the comment!!!

  7. That was quite an interesting post, K. A.! It was really fun to read. 🙂 The cattle part was especially interesting, the puppies are SO CUTE, I liked the egg picture, and you got some pretty sunset pictures – I especially love the first one! Phew, that was a long sentence! XD

          • Tsk tsk, K. A., you got feminine and masculine endings all mixed up! *Shakes head* XD XD XD Hee hee! Are (I mean were) you learning Spanish?
Hablo un poco de Espanol. (Ugh, there’s no wavy accent thingy!)

            Like

          • I what? What? 😡 😕 That’s what it said it was! 😉 Yeah, I was! 😉 😛 Hehehe!!! xD 😀 🙂 😛 Tengo un cabillo, un perro etc! 😀 XD I don’t know what ‘etc’ is in spanish! 😉 😛

            Like

          • Well, the gender of the article/adjective/etc. is supposed to agree with the gender of whatever it’s modifying. So the feminine noun “nina” should have the feminine article “una”, instead of the masculine article “un.” Heh heh, was that confusing or what?
So I think the sentence should be “UnA nina come una manzana rojA.” 😀 (I capitalized the changed letters.) Hee hee, that was a fun Spanish lesson! XD
Are you learning any other languages? We were learning Latin, but THANKFULLY Mom decided we don’t have to anymore. Phew! XD Latin is really hard (at least for me).

            Liked by 1 person

          • Oooh… ? Okay… ? I said Una nina!!! I thought…Oops, I didn’t!!! I meant Una nina! That’s what I usually put.. SORRY!!! 😛 XD 🙂 hehe!!! 😛 Yeah.. 😛 😀
Okay! 😛 I don’t know about the roja part…but probably! 😉 I meant to do Una…sorry bout that! 😉 😛 😀 XD XD Hehehe!!! I WAS learning German (cause I’ve ALWAYS wanted to learn it!! :D) but I stopped cause I couldn’t consentrate on both, and now I’m stopped altogether. :/ Hah!! 😛 I can imagine

            Like

Hehe!!!! 😛 😀 🙂 My favorite goat of ours is named Angel…the name doesn’t quite fit her…and she’s not very grateful for what she’s got…but oh well, I still like her lots! 😉 😀 😛 We have goats named: Willy, Bug, Lambie (or Bunny…but we never did figure out which…), Angel, Nettie, and then the babies are Diego, Boots, Dory, Babbit and Button! 😉 😛 Haha!! 😀 What are some of your goats names? or is Henry the only one with a name..? 😛 😀 Our horses are very cool too!!! 😀 🙂
