Hey there everyone!! 🙂 !! 😀 Here are the prompts I used! 🙂
She hovered over her desk, trying to see her math book through her tears. But they dripped down onto her math, leaving wet splotches on it. Mia grabbed her book and headed home in the rain. Stomping, she made her way into her room and collapsed on her bed, crying. It had happened a week 1/2 ago, yet it felt like yesterday. And the funeral was in a week. Mia wished that the funeral never had to happen. Her brother Clark wasn’t any help either. He just spent all day out on his scate-board or in his room. Mia was feeling much like what her name actually meant: Bitter. Ava had died in a car accident. She had only been 18. Clark was 16. Mia was 13. She pulled herself up off her bed and groggily opened her door. Her dark brown shoulder length hair drooped over her face as she walked down the hall. She walked over to the door with the name ‘Ava’ on it. Mia smiled sadly as she looked at it, then creaked the door open. She walked over to a shelf in Ava’s room and looked at all the jars lined on it. Ava had been very interested in science, and had made up all sorts of chemicals and things to look neat on her shelf. There were blue ones, purple ones, and pink ones, and ones with all three in them. She pursed her lips and closed her eyes, reliving the memories with her sister. Then her eyes snapped open as she remembered one night in particular. She had been up on the roof of the house, at night, after Ava had left to go to town, when Clark had come up…
“What are you doing?!” Clark asked, hauling himself through the window.
“I’m sitting on the roof.” Mia answered, still looking at the stars. She leaned over the roof and inhaled deeply. The air was more fresh up here, the moon and stars seemed brighter, and she felt free.
“Well I can see that.” He said, tilting his head sideways. He lifted one eyebrow in an unspoken tease because Mia couldn’t lift just one eyebrow and he could. They had guessed it was a middle child thing.
…but now Clark was the oldest child. Maybe he can’t do it anymore. She thought with a chuckle. But it wasn’t a real laugh, just a little chuckle. She sighed and walked back to the door, but as she neared it, her foot bumped into a box. She went to move it out of the way, and saw that it had writing on it. It said ‘Bad Memories. Do not open‘ Hmm…wonder what it is.. She thought. Then she remembered. She had labeled it that because she never thought she would want to look in it again. But she did now.
It was pictures of her, Clark, and Ava together. She opened it slowly and sat down on her knees. The first picture was of Them at a water park all standing at the bottom of a huge slide, wet. Mia kept shifting through the pictures and stopped at one of her having a piggy back ride on Ava. Clark was just staring at them, like he thought they were crazy. Because he did. The next was of Mia jumping onto Clark and he had a surprised expression on his face.
The next was another one of all three. But this picture was special, cause they didn’t just have smiles plastered on their faces, these were real smiles. In fact, Clark was actually laughing. He looked funny when he laughed, Mia remembered, Because he would close his eyes and sometimes throw his head back. She hadn’t seen him do that for a long time. A tear ran down her cheek as she saw the next one, of them all running through the water together, then splash. She let the tears run then and cried all night, until finally, she fell asleep.
Mia was in a bunch of water, dancing with Ava. They were so high up that the stars were right beside them, and Ava reached out to touch one. Then Mia walked over to Ava and went to give her a hug, but Ava got scared, and ran the opposite direction, and out of view.
Mia burst out of her sleep, spilling the pictures that were still in her hands. She was breathing quickly and rubbed her head to calm down. She yawned and then got up and picked all the pictures up, put them in the box, and slid it under Ava’s old bed. She walked to her room and lay down on her bed, then curled up with a blanket and fell asleep again.
“Time for lunch sleepy head.” She heard. Mia moaned and sat up, looking into her mom’s face. She got up slowly and went downstairs to the kitchen. She grabbed her ham sandwich and sat down by her dad. He looked really tired and was eating cereal. But she didn’t ask why. Sometimes he just wanted cereal instead of normal lunches. She shook her head and kept eating.
That night, once the stars had come out again, Mia headed up to Clark’s room, where the window to the roof was. His room was covered in clothes and she had to be careful where she stepped. She wondered where he even was. She opened his window and walked out onto the roof, but was surprised to see someone already there.
“Who is it.” She heard a grumbly voice say. It was Clark’s.
“You know who I am.” She said back. “What are you doing?” She asked, even though she knew what he would say.
“I’m sitting on the roof.” He replied, a smile creeping onto his face.
“Well I can SEE that.” She managed to actually sound a bit annoyed. Then she went and sat beside him. She realized she hadn’t seen him for about 3 days and his hair was a pinch longer than she remembered. They both took a deep breath at the same time.
“You miss her too don’t you.” Clark said. Mia was surprised. She was guessing he would try to avoid that subject. She nodded. “Yaaa…I do.” She replied. He looked at her and she stared into his dark brown eyes.
“But we’ll be alright. She’s up in heaven now. So she’s fine too.” He said, as if he was talking to a three year old. But that was ok with Mia right now, because she felt like a three year old now. She nodded again.
“Do you remember that time when we were at the water park, and mom took tons of pictures?! And when you jumped on me, and nearly crunched me to bits!?” She exclaimed, almost changing the subject.
Clark thought about it and then remembering, he closed his eyes and threw his head back, laughing. There’s the laugh. She thought, laughing along with him.
That was fun to write!! 😀 you guys may have noticed, that in my stories, there’s almost always a boy in them. I’m not sure why, but I like to have both genders in my story! 😀 Or just boys… 😉 XD Hehe!!! 😛 But if you also notice that ‘That’s not something a brother would do, he would be more mean about it’ or anything else, that’s cause I don’t really know what a brother is like. You see, I don’t have any brothers, AT ALL! So, I don’t really know. So I’m sorry If I don’t capture how it really is to have a brother, but I try to! 😀 If you have any tips on something annoying that your brother(s) do, or anything else that I could know to make my stories a bit more realistic, I’d love to hear it!! 🙂 Thanks!!! Have a good rest of your…week! 🙂 XD I guess this is the last day of the week…have a good rest of the month!! 😀 XD
